BioFocus DPI is the service division of Galapagos (Euronext: GLPG), a drug discovery company with major pre-clinical research alliances with the top pharmaceutical industry. The aim of BioFocus DPI is to expand our partners’ drug pipeline by accelerating the gene-tocandidate discovery process.
As part of BioFocus DPI’s suite of target-to-drug discovery services, we offer a proprietary and state-of-the-art technology platform that enables the efficient discovery of fully validated targets. Human primary cell assays that model the disease of interest are the basis for this platform.
We apply arrayed knock-in and knock-down libraries to over-express or silence human genes and to identify and validate disease-modifying drug targets. Once a target has been selected, BioFocus DPI’s small-molecule and natural product libraries can be applied to generate “hits”, which can then be further optimized through our expertise in medicinal and computational chemistry.
Galapagos currently employs 460 people and operates facilities in six countries, with global headquarters in Mechelen, Belgium. In Leiden, BioFocus DPI employs 35 people, of which 25 are scientific.

Laboratory Technician

Profile:
• You have a degree (BSc. or MSc.) in Life Sciences with 1-3 years working experience, preferably in a biotech or pharma company
• You have hands-on experience in human cell culture techniques and cellular assays
• You work accurately, precisely and are familiar with standard operating procedures.
• You are communicative, flexible and a team player.
• You like to work in the environment of a biotech company where quality, speed, motivation, team spirit and results are of utmost importance to be successful.
