The Shared R&D unit Industrial Chemicals (SRU-IC) is the R&D develop center of DSM Fibre Intermediates. SRU-IC provides solutions and creates opportunities aimed at maintaining sustainable technology and cost leadership in DFI’s caprolactam and acrylonitrile business. This urges the necessity of innovative creativity in process development, improvement, and support. Fundamental understanding, integral process knowledge, and knowing the expertise are our key success factors. The SRU-IC is located at the Geleen (Netherlands) based Research Campus and comprises about 40 employees with chemistry and chemical technology expertises.

The Challenge

In particular in the improvement, expansion and renewal of the caprolactam manufacturing process we face a number of R&D challenges. You are invited to contribute successfully to meet these challenges in multi-disciplinary teams. You will be stimulated and coached to develop yourself in the scientific projects, as well as on your personal skills like entrepreneurship, communication and leadership. The atmosphere is open with plenty of interaction with professionals, in R&D as well as in business. You will:

- generate output by experiments performed in the laboratorium and plant when possible
- design, construct, and operate experimental set-ups.
- report in writing and orally to your project leader, advice him/her for follow-up, and generate ideas

We ask

- a HBO level in chemistry, background organic chemistry, catalysis. Affinity for process technology, analytical chemistry and lab automation is a pré.
- the ability to cooperate in multi-disciplinary teams (technology, chemistry, analysis).
- an enthusiastic, creative, and result oriented personality with team spirit.
