DSM Food Specialties develops and produces, market ingredients and processing aids for the Dairy, Savoury, Beverage and Nutritional markets.The Business Group consists of the Business Units Savoury Ingredients, Enzymes & Dairy Ingredients, a Global Sales-, a DSM Biotechnology Center and Operations organization, and also a number of staff departments.
There is a strong cooperation within de cluster Nutrition with DSM Nutritional Products to develop new ingredients to the market of Functional Food.
DSM Biotechnology Center (DBC) is the center for biotech Research and Development (R&D) within the innovation driven company DSM. DBC is focused on the creation of new and improved products for the internal business units of DSM Food Specialties (DFS), DSM Anti-Infectives (DAI), DSM Nutritional Products (DNP) along with Emerging Business Areas for DSM such as White Biotechnology or Specialty Packaging (EBA-WB, EBA-SP).
For the R&D department Applied Biochemistry we are looking for several:
(Senior) Laboratory Technician(s) Applied Biochemistry
The Challenge
Your task as (senior) technician Applied Biochemistry is to play an important role in the development of enzymes, yeast extracts and the related applications. This ranges from carbohydrolases for biofuel production, enzymes for pharmaceuticals, to specialty enzymes for food applications (for dairy, savoury, bakery, beverage and nutrition). You perform state-of-the-art biochemical experimental work in the laboratory. You are able to interpret, analyse and report the results of these experiments and you take care of the equipment that you use. Being a professional you keep up with developments in your field of expertise and contribute to the professional know-how of the department. In project teams you will work close together with experts from other disciplines like analysis, food application and down stream processing.
The Ideal
Our ideal new colleague has a bachelor’s (HLO) in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Food Technology, Food Chemistry or a related expertise. You have affinity for and possibly several years experience with experiments in the field of (applied) biochemistry and/or enzyme assay development, preferably in an industrial environment. Most preferably, you are familiar with one of our application fields such as dairy, savoury, bakery, beverage, pharma, white biotech, nutrition and/or (bio)assay development. We are looking for someone with plenty of initiative, who likes to learn new things and to work in teams in an innovative- and inspiring environment. You combine thorough problem analysis with practical judgment and creativity. As a professional you are eager to use the experiences of fellow professionals, have customer focus and you are open to share knowledge with your colleagues. Your personality can be described as result driven and flexible. You are a real team player, a good communicator, fluently in both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
