DSM Resolve is a leading analysis centre specialized in problem solving, in particular in the area of polymer materials and chemicals. DSM Resolve's outstanding hundred-strong team of highly qualified and application oriented experts has built up its expertise by working for a broad range of customers. DSM Resolve has an extensive and up-to-date analytical infrastructure. DSM Resolve offers its high-end skills combined with in-depth application knowledge. Being located at DSM's knowledge intensive R&D Campus in Geleen (Netherlands), DSM Resolve has direct access to a wide variety of additional expertises. Characteristics of Resolve are a high result orientation and a focus on partnerships with customers. Within the field of Polymer Analysis, we have a vacant position for:
Scientist Thermal Analysis
The Challenge
At DSM R&D, a long standing and extensive expertise with respect to the determination of the morphological characterization of polymers has been built up. Within this broad field of morphological characterization, thermal analysis has been developed as a powerful analytical domain in order to reveal the morphological / thermal transitions with respect to polymers.
The aim in the field of Thermal Analysis has always been applying the deep understanding of polymer material properties to reveal the structure-properties relationships with respect to its morphology. A broad portfolio of polymers is covered from polyolefins e.g. HDPE, EPDM, PP and UHMWPE, to engineering plastics e.g. Polyesters, Polyamides, biopolymers and even resins.
As expert, working in the Thermal Analysis group of DSM Resolve, you will determine thermal transitions like f.i. glass transition, cold crystallization, crystallization and melting temperatures of various industrial polymeric materials. Furthermore, combining thermal analytical knowledge with other morphological and even mechanical properties of polymers solutions should be presented to the polymeric business of DSM and third parties.
Naturally, you will combine the broad analytical portfolio of DSM Resolve with thermal analysis in order to achieve the problem solutions for our customers.
The Ideal
You are an enthusiastic and self-propelling university doctorate, with high scientific skills and motivation. A broad knowledge of Polymers with respect to Morphology and Thermal Analysis, is essential besides hands-on experience with DSC, TGA, DMTA, TMA, rheology etc.
Furthermore, you are a proactive professional, responsible and responsive, who considers it a challenge to apply your expertise in an industrial context. You have strong analytical skills. You are both a team player, with a team spirit, and able to work on your own. You have excellent communication skills, and you have empathy for the customers' needs and problems. You like to exploit the excellent training facilities provided by DSM, in- and outside your expertise. You have excellent communication skills and a good command of the English language.
It is a pleasure for you to cooperate with researchers and to be involved in projects aiming at improving the molecular architecture and properties of polymers.
Only applicants with a permission granted to work in the Netherlands will be considered.
The Reward
We offer a rewarding and challenging job, with lots of opportunities for personal input; plenty of room for discussions with fellow professionals; an open and pleasant atmosphere; in short...never a dull moment. You will work with the research facilities at DSM Resolve (www.dsm.com/le/en_US/resolve_le/html/home_resolve_le.htm).
Terms and conditions of employment as well as fringe benefits are up to market standards. Salary depends on your education and experience and is based on the local Collective Labor Agreement.
