DSM Biotechnology Center (DBC) is the centre for biotechnological Research and Development (R&D) within the innovation driven company DSM. DBC is focused on the creation of new and improved products and processes for the internal business units of DSM like DSM Food Specialties (DFS), DSM Anti-Infectives (DAI), DSM Nutritional Products (DNP) and Emerging Business Areas for DSM such as White Biotechnology or Specialty Packaging.
The R&D Analysis department is part of the DSM Biotechnology Center and based in Delft (NL). The department develops and performs chemical and biochemical analyses for all DSM's Life Sciences business groups. It supports and advises internal customers in the research and development of new processes and products, market questions and troubleshooting.

(Associate) Scientist Analysis.
The Challenge
In your role, you participate in different R&D projects by representing the overall analytical expertises as Responsible Scientist Analysis and having analytical budget responsibility. Next to your science role in the projects, you translate project questions into analytical solutions together with analytical experts from different disciplines. In addition, you work hands-on and are actively involved in the development of new analytical methods, coaching of co-workers and communicating with customers.
The Ideal
We are looking for someone with a Ph. D. or comparable level in analytical chemistry and having a background in biochemistry or biotechnology with good knowledge of organic chemistry. Experience in chromatography, mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of different classes of bio-molecules (proteins, lipids, metabolites) from a complex biological matrix is recommended. Teamwork, customer orientation and good communication with non experts and reporting skills (in English) are important as well as problem solving abilities, flexibility, eagerness and persuasiveness. As a professional you are eager to use the experiences of fellow professionals and you like to share knowledge with your colleagues.
